Studying Shakespeare and understanding his work are a daunting task to every reader and each critic. Criticisms are spread, comments are given but the name, the fame, the flavour of words never be changed. Every drama of him is a perennial source of joy and every sonnet of him is a drop of ambrosia. As Ben Johnson puts it ‘he is of no age’. His dramas reflect variegated human life situations in an artistic way and every problem finds a solution in his writings. He is a master of words and expressions. He shows his craftsmanship in apt and proper use of words in their right and fitting context. Some of the words cannot be displaced by other words demands and even ordinary words attain special and extraordinary meaning in his hands. Blending Shakespeare into the class room teaching generates interest in students to learn language. This paper is an attempt to make language learning interesting using Shakespeare’s vocabulary of varied types. Also the paper throws light on various activities designed to teach the select vocabulary as per the demands of varied situations.
