The spider, the astonishing craftsman, designs its web with keen subtlety and utmost

perfection. The moment any life is entrapped in it the wily creator winds it that it flutters in

vein. Spiders with blood red eyes of evil motive awaits in each nook and corner for the snow

white lives of little cherubs. Their struggles and cries come to nothing within seconds.

Innocence and purity of children are victimized by these widely spread spider web of evil.

The eternal child figure in Charles Dickens’s Oliver Twist stands for such a

victimized childhood. The world as portrayed in Oliver Twist is one of crime and evil.

Whether it is the workhouse or the Fagin’s den, the innocent children are crucified either by

starving to death or by involving them in criminal activities.
