-An Abstract-

The definition of Literature is a reflection of life has started changing eventually because it gives a multi disciplinary knowledge. Fiction is not the only popular genre in Literature; yet it takes a priority on discussions. Prose from William Tyndale, the father of English Prose occupies a firm place in expanding the lateral knowledge in Literature. Etymologically Prose originated from Latin expression prosa oratio means straight forward or direct speech. Its origin has a very long history. Its evolution and development provides an intellectual dais for the readers to dwell in different disciplines. India has a highly intellectual writer who always has a third dimension in every aspects. She is Arundhati Roy. Her The God of Small Things brought fame in heap. For her essays brought a rational argument among the readers. She is one among the writers who is not fictitious in her content. This paper falls on highlighting the democratic aspects of her essays. The Great Common Good, The End of imagination, Listening to Grasshoppers and Democracy’s failing Light are known for its eco-centric vision of Roy. For in this paper the findings are focused on the democratic perspective of a writer.
