Of the four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing), writing has always been the most problematic part for Chinese college students and difficult for their teachers to help. From students’ English writing we can find that not only linguistic transfer but also cultural transfer can lead to the problem in Chinese students’ English compositions. Pragmatic failure, which also occurs in students’ writing, offers a perspective for the study in the thesis. According to the interview of typical students and some models of students’ writing, author gives the illustration of the research questions.
