In my paper, I have discussed Khaled Hosseni’s, A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Kite Runner and Sudha Murthy’s Gently Falls Bakula and Mahashweta. Both the works have described the suffering of women in their respective countries like Afghanistan and India.

The treatment of women differs from society to society. The region plays a great role in shaping the mindset of the people. No matter wherever the place is, a woman is always subjugated and made to suffer and treated as other. They are always used by men to satisfy their own purpose, for some people they are tools who will give them their heirs, for some they are mere decorative objects and for some they are subservient creatures who will take care of their household chores.
