Absract:
Sex is an integral and indispensible part of life. The relationship between the two sexes is something that cannot be ignored, or treated in a superstitious or haphazard way because it is the very essence of existence and the means by which life is perpetuated. Sex could not be eliminated and thorn out as a piece of unessential dirt. It continued to exist as an integral part of life. The sex urge is no way abated by being condemned and suppressed. It is under such great influence of rich treasure of classical work on erotology over which Indian writers write. The first of the pre-independence Indian English poets is Henry Louis Vivian Derozio (1809-1831)Toru Dutt, Sarojini Naidu and Kamala Das in their poetry tells of such infinite variety of refinement of physical love. Their poems identify procreation as the aim of sexual activity. Kamala Das is one of the few Indian writers of the contemporary times to attain celebrity status in the academic world across the globe. The theme of love in term of man-woman relationship was also prominent in other Indian English poets which show that being an Indian they were not alien to the work on erotology by different Sanskrit classical scholars.
