Serenity and security overcome me
Whenever your hands hold mine
You were my first playmate,
Committed caretaker in sickness,
Perfect makeup man for all the occasions,
Eloquent scriptwriter for speech and drama,
Ardent admirer of my achievements and mischief,
Silent supporter in every decision,
You are God’s gift, my priceless possession.
Silently and smilingly you heard my chattering,
Sternly and softly you nursed my wounds,
Encouraging and empowering me to make my way,
Filling my loneliness with music and books,
Trusting me in my decisions,
Holding me in my troubled times,
You hardly spoke your mind,
And I seldom minded my words,
Life was colourful in this contradiction.
We are poles apart in views and temperament
The love we nurture and the bond we share
Speak through our silences
And resonate between the distances.
Memories of our togetherness will always be a part of me
A part filled with nostalgia
A part I turn to in happiness and pain.
Love you Dad always…
