Description of the Secret Societies in the novel “The Human Comedy ”of Honoré De Balzac

Abstract:

Balzac explore various encounters to decipher the development of secret societies in The Human Comedy. This research first explore textual analysis throughout the structure of Balzac’s literary then analyzes the link between the secret societies and the work of Balzac with in the background, the French Revolution and its consequences in the nineteenth century. There is a link between the Enlightenment and the Revolution and there is also a link between the Revolution and the real or imaginary secret societies of the nineteenth century because the disenchantment left by the Restoration leads to the establishment of secret societies whose members counteract the status quo, morals and politics of the time. Finally, this research is ended by establishing a connection between the secret societies and the utopia.
