This paper intends to understand the nature of cyber-regional-community designing by focusing on the layouts of select cyber Kerala community websites. Cyberspace is constantly in the process of making new communities of virtually maintained spatial relations. All these communities are effectuated as the aftermath of certain persistent operations from the part of the community makers and its users. These communities are generated with the intention of spreading some particular perspectives. The acts of website layout creations as well as the typographic selections and arrangements aid the community constructions in cyberspace. These innocent-appearing casual procedures of cyber-community making have, in fact, equal roles to play in the circulation of manipulated meanings. Virtual ethnography is here used as a theoretical and methodological tool for conducting this analysis. Using the ethnography for the internet and the associated inferences gained from cyber culture theories, this paper attempts to analyse the role of layouts and graphic designing in cyber-regional-community making.
