Abstract

Kashmiriyat flourished in the history of Kashmir. Kashmir was really a paradise in past where equality, unity, co-existence and peace prevailed in the valley. Lalleshwari, Sheikh Noor-ud-Din had their major role in spreading Kashmiriyat values. During colonial period Kashmiris were divided into groups.

Agha Shahid Ali was Kashmiri-American poet. He has used different idioms to portray Kashmiriyat. He also uses different images and symbols to portray Kashmiriyat. Ali has written about Lal Ded, Sheikh Noor-ud-Din and Emperor Akbar. His poetry mainly focused on contemporary issues of Kashmiriyat.
