Abstract :

Learning needs to happen in order to ensure that life long, pragmatic benefits accrue, which are in keeping with the needs of the profession and society. Therefore, education needs to be outcome-based. Educational institutions have to be fully outcome-based, for this purpose outcomes are fixed, and time and other resources needed to achieve the outcomes are variable. For curriculums planning, first the goals have to be clarified, which in turn clarifies the Course Objectives and the Programme Objectives.

Outcome Based Education (OBE) is more of a philosophy than a uniform set of practices. The need is to change the institutional rules and practices to make them compatible, ensuring that every aspect leads to the desired goals. The need is also to give the name Outcome Based Education, which will serve as a constant reminder to the affirmative action required on the part of the students, faculty and management.
