Abstract

 

Train to Pakistan is a socio-political novel, thoroughly true to the events and people in story. It goes forward in a trim; the settings are, as a communal massacre which followed partition of India in two countries as India and Pakistan in 1947. Novel portrays the story of Sikh and Muslim inhabitants of the Punjab village of Mano Majra, who have lived together in peace for generations. Informing everything that happens are the socio-political sensibility and style of living of Sikhs and Muslims. All that we need to know about the socio-political background is well depicted in the novel. Present study is an effort to inquire and understand the socio-political issues in the novel.
