Abstract

English is a foreign language but since the British came to India the language has had an
impact on several fields-in educations, literary effort and as a medium of communication. Wide
ranges of themes are dealt in Indian writing in English. Indian women writing in English are
being recognized as major contemporary in English literature. Women writers also brought a
stylist pattern in the whole context of Indian writing.
Sudha Murthy is an eminent writer in English and Kannada. She is much more interested
in social welfare. She occupies the position of one of the successful Indian writers. She has
written extensively about Indian Society. She has written nine novels, four technical books, and
three travelogues, one collection of short stories and two collections of non-fiction pieces. Her
books have been translated into all the major Indian languages and have sold over 150000
copies. Her popular novels are Dollar Bahu, Gently Falls the Bakula and House of Cards.
