Quest is an inner urge or desire to unfold the mysteries of unknown things. This urge begins with the self and expands to the universe. It makes the man realize the reality which has been discussed widely in the literary grounds starting from Vedas to the present modern world. The quester approaches various ways to unveil that hidden truth. The literature acts itself as a medium to reveal all those mysteries under introspection. When the quest encompasses the philosophy, it deducts useful inferences which guide the fellow members who are also involved in the process of finding the ultimate truth. My paper focuses on this quest motive with reference to literature with a particular focus on the works of Raja Rao

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.†
