Aspects of Myth and Reality in Kiran Nagarkar’s Cuckold

This paper examines combined aspects of fantasy and reality through Kiran Nagarkar’s Cuckold. He has interwoven both genres by telling love story of Meerabai, and Lord Krishna. On the one hand writer depicts real war history between Mewar, Gujarat, and Delhi kingdom of the 16th century in Rajasthan. In this novel Nagarkar uses humor, witty dialogue, and historical reality and presents possible world of fantasy. Author uses the new fictional mode of epistolary form and epigraph technique in the novel. It is examined how private lives intersect public realms and how individuality fits into history.
