Abstract

Examining one’s own feeling and thoughts is termed as introspection. Fyodor Dostoevsky’s The Dream of a ridiculous man is a psychological short story published in the year 1877. An Unnamed character, who fells into extreme nihilism tries to analyze himself, is what Ridiculous man talks about. Dostoevsky does it through fictionalizing not only psychology but also philosophy and theology. Looking at Dostoevsky’s personal experiences and the short story this paper intends to study the introspection of psychology of Dostoevsky in this short story by categorizing it as an extended thought experiment.
