Abstract

A snapshot of a Daughter-in-Law revolves around the role a married women plays in the society & in her household, naturally expected from her after marriage. A snapshot of a Daughter-in-law by Adrienne Rich is a strong feminist poem in which Rich discovers multiple facets of a woman's life, filled with sorrows and male domination. This paper highlights the underlying importance of women taking their own stand and living on their terms, being co-dependent rather than wholly depending on their spouse with the image contrast of generalisation and equalisation.
