Effectiveness of Flipped Classroom Method in Enhancing Students’ Academic Achievement and Retention in Learning English at Tertiary Level

The present study explored the effectiveness of flipped classroom methods in the context of English learning outcomes at the tertiary level. The learning outcome of the study is to measure the academic achievement and retention level of the students. Moreover, the study verified the influence of moderate variable, such as gender, on this instructional method. Quasi-experimental research method and a parallel group design were adopted, with postgraduate students acting as the sample of the study. The study results clearly showed that flipped classroom methods favoured students' English learning outcomes, particularly in terms of academic achievement and retention ability. Based on the findings of the study, the researchers also provided detailed recommendations.
