A Critical Study of Historical Depiction in Lord Tennyson’s play Becket
Abstract
History plays a very vital role in literature. Its presentation in the works depends upon the artistic mind of the authors who turn them into literary flavor and make the myths real and convincing. There are my English writers who infused history in their works. From Chaucer to Eliot, there is array of writers who used historical events and legends to maintain loftiness and realism in their literary works. This research paper deals with the life, mind and thoughts of Tennyson with emphasis on the treatment of historical elements in his play Becket.
