No age in the annals of creation can wrench free of its interdependence and influence over the other. From ancient of days the existence of every creature and entity is interconnected. When this is the way of the world, how can Literature alone be free from its effect! Traces of the ancient are found in modern works and on the other hand, works in the past have aptly foretold the future. Classics remain so because they are relevant to all ages. One such classic is Kalki.R.Krishnamurthy’s Sivakamiyin Sabadham. Originally written in Tamil, it has been translated into English and European languages also. The paper analyzes the influence of the past society in the present world with Kalki’s text as the source. It brings out the emotions of love as enunciated in the ancient social and literary set up of Tamil Literature.
