Abstract

Children are the highest demand community as far as consumerism is concerned. Toys and a heap of allied products are an unalienable spectacle of any middle class house with children around. Although sensitizing about the need for sustainable development and the use of eco-friendly objects has been in academic discourses for a long time, when it comes to children, establishing the green protocol is a subject of speculation. Green Protocol and its norms were made mandatory by the Govt. of Kerala as part of Shuchitwa mission and to a limited extent it was implemented successfully but the question of wiping out roots of such production remains as a question. This paper attempts to look into the politics of toys and its ancillary products and the presence of eco-friendliness in these objects and what possible alternatives are currently in use and what can be thought of.
