Abstract

Aristotle, the ancient Greek philosopher and scientist, says that “Man is by nature a social animal”. The human beings are in fact bound by the chain of social affairs. They are blessed with their strength and weakness either by physiologically or psychologically. The imbalance in psychological factors may lead to utter destruction in life. When a person is emotionally disturbed, the decision making gets resulted in great chaos. The protagonists in the well-known mythologies have been emotionally tested and they have faced death pathetically. The adversity from the external factors agonized the internal senses would get disintegrated. Though they were unaware of their destiny, their emotions were tempted by their fellow beings tormented their spirits and decisions. They have been under plotting which was really unknown to them. According to Abraham Maslow, when a person’s lower order needs are fulfilled, he may aspire for higher order needs. In this sense, the characterization of Karna and Achilles are slightly different but they were weak by internal factors such as emotions. Both of them are from rich background of royal living. The birth secrecy of Karna made his life miserable. The consequent incidents targeted his emotions and made him confused and vulnerable by himself as a prey to his fate. Where else, Achilles was weakened by his misery stricken mother whose status made her forgot to dip his heel in the holy river. He was also emotionally tested and became overwhelmed by the situation.
